Volunteer work

I teach a junior high leadership class. We volunteer at a memory care facility. It is heartwarming to see the interactions between the residents and my junior high students. Some activities we do are: art projects, mini "talent shows," and sing alongs. The residents look forward to the visits from the kids, and I love seeing how caring the students are with the residents.

About

When I was 7 years old at my older brother's track meet at Shoreline Stadium, my mom encouraged me to jump into a kids' open 400m dash. I ran it in a blur and loved every second of it. After I finished, I said, "I want to do that again. But faster." That is when I first knew that I wanted to be a runner. And since then, I have, and forever will be, a runner.

I live in West Seattle with my husband and 3 little kids, Ellie (9), Calvin (7), and Geri (4). Our favorite things to do are hang out down at Alki, go out to eat at local restaurants, and have play dates at the park. My husband and I are obsessed with our neighborhood coffee shop, and our drink of choice is an oat milk latte. To unwind at night, I love watching HGTV, Real Housewives franchises, or SportCenter.

For the last 16(!) years, I have been fortunate enough to teach 5th-8th grade math, a leadership elective, and a running elective at Holy Rosary School. One of my favorite things about teaching math is seeing my students' incredible progress in the 4 years that I teach them.

Running is a huge part of my life. I roll out of bed each morning to get a run in, and it is the best way to start the day! I have a few go-to routes through West Seattle, but I also enjoy a treadmill run listening to my favorite podcasts as I get my morning miles. On weekends, I always get a run or a workout in with my Club Northwest buddies.
